Artist Statement
A Contemplation on life, loss and death.
Deeply personal, created to honor my brother and father who recently passed, these images are both part of an interactive light installation and a series of digital paintings.
In the installation, the images are projected from two opposite sides onto cheer gauzy material, which the viewer is meant to walk through and touch – the viewer becomes part of the work and experiences the images from different perspectives as he walks between the layers of fabric.

Incorporating touch and sound into the experience of these other-worldly images, the viewer travels through the piece, “Connecting with the Light” on his own terms. The experience can be meditative, joyous or sensuous depending on the viewer. Through these images I depict both the light and dark sides of thoughts and emotions connected with the bridging of life and death. Thoughts of death can be scary, dark and unsettling, but also hold within them the promise of release. No longer attached to the material universe, life might float on becoming a dance, a song, an ocean of light and harmony.
